Full-Time Music Therapist

The Creative Arts Therapist functions within the Child Life Department and Audrey Hepburn Children's House offering the arts as a therapeutic modality for pediatric patients and their family members on an inpatient or an outpatient basis. We are looking for a Full-time Music Therapist who will be a member of the creative art therapy team. The schedule is Monday - Friday, from 9 AM - 5:30 PM.

A day in the life of a Creative Arts Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Collaborates with Child Life Program.
• Provides creative arts therapy for both individuals and groups of children.
• Develops and implements a creative arts therapy program.
• Evaluates creative arts therapy program on a regular basis.
• Provides therapeutic support for pediatric patients during identified stress points such as medical distress, end of life.
• Collaborates with other staff by sharing information regarding planning of treatment and follow-up.
• Procures creative arts supplies.
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
• Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies. AHCH Specific Job Functions (List in order of importance):
• Provides a comprehensive assessment of patient's psychosocial needs and develops treatment plans and treatment plan reviews based on findings and according to department policy; provides effective treatment to patients, whether assessment or therapy, and shares and interprets information to staff, families, and/or other approved agencies.
• Completes written reports in a timely fashion as required.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Appropriate education in creative arts therapy from an accredited creative arts therapy program.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Master's degree.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Creative Arts Therapy certification by the appropriate creative arts accrediting board within 18 months from date of hire.

Compensation Minimum rate of $73,153.60 Annually HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization. Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
